“Curator on Call” at the Hotel Monaco Portland

Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Portland has a passion for the arts. And now the hotel’s staff can share that passion with guests via the Monaco’s “Curator on Call” program. Give the hotel at least 24-hours notice and they’ll arrange a personal art tour for your group ($75 an hour for up to 6 people). Tours, which typically take three hours, can be tailored to include your specific interests, the hotel’s extensive art collection, and/or the collections of nearby galleries and the Portland Art Museum. For more information on the Hotel Monaco Portland, visit www.monaco-portland.com.

And for each guest who chooses the “Go Green” package, the Heathman will plant a tree in conjunction with the Portland-based Friends of Trees. Additionally, guests arriving in hybrid or biodiesel-powered cars receive free parking for the night (a $29 savings). Elephants Launches 100% Biodegradable Boxed Lunches

Locally owned Elephants Delicatessen, a pioneer in the gourmet food industry, is also known as a leader in environmentally friendly business practices. The company’s latest “green” practices include adopting a new box-lunch container for all catering and take-out orders that is 100 percent biodegradable. The box is made from renewable, sustainable resources such as corn and potatoes and 100 percent recyclable fiberboard. The biodegradable lunch box comes with 100 percent biodegradable forks and bags; soy-based inks are used for all printing; napkins are made with post-consumer recycled content. Visitors heading to one of Portland’s great parks or greenspaces for a picnic can pick up a gourmet lunch at Elephants’ downtown location (Flying Elephants Deli), within easy walking distance of the majority of the city’s hotels. Flying Elephants Deli is located in the Fox Tower, 812 S.W. Park Ave., downtown Portland. Elephants’ flagship store in Northwest Portland, just 10 minutes from downtown, is located at 115 N.W. 22nd Ave. This location has a full bar and is the perfect place to sample artisan cheeses, Oregon wines and Elephants’ famous baked goods. www.elephantsdeli.com
